Hi, friends! It's me again :D
I had so much fun back in Penang. We visited Komtar during the last day of our trip. Komtar wasn't in our to-go list at first but it turned out to be quite an amazing experience. As a Kedahian who live near to Penang, I didn't know that there is actually an indoor theme park (The Top Penang) in Komtar. (**facepalm**)
The Top Penang is a one-stop destination for everyone where one can literally spend an entire day in it to visit all the attractions. What I can is it is definitely worth a visit!
We bought our tickets at the counter next to a restaurant (Only Mee) located at Level 5. The operation hours are listed in the picture below.
As you can see from the price list in the picture below, it will be more affordable for one to get "Top Day Fun Pass" to enjoy all the attractions. For your information, besides the pass for "Window of the Top", you can purchase tickets for each attraction separately as well.
We were given a leaflet after purchasing the tickets. The leaflet was very useful in helping us to explore the available attractions in the theme park. During our visit, few attraction sites were closed down for maintenance.
You might need to take note of a few things.
1) It is advisable to visit the ones located outdoors first such as Rainbow Skywalk and Jurassic Research Center to avoid a sudden change in the weather.
2) Most of the attractions is opened every half an hour. You can look for the timetable outside each attraction.
3) 7D Discovery Motion Theater is opened every one hour.
4) Tech Dome Penang is only opened until 6pm.
[ ATTRACTIONS ]
1. Observatory Deck
Observatory Deck is located at Level 65. We were guided to enter The Top Theater right after we walked out of the lift. A video was then played in the theater. There was one moment which I found quite impressive. (I am not sure how others feel. At least, I did!) Or maybe I didn't put much expectation at first. (**chuckled**) You shall check it out yourself!
After watching the video, we took our sweet time to enjoy the stunning seamless view of Georgetown and beyond.
Observatory Deck also features a glass walkway that enables visitors to watch the world go by below. It is an introductory version of Rainbow Skywalk. I believe it is quite challenging for people who are fear of heights (for example, me). I struggled for some time before I made my move to walk on the glass walkway. It was terrific! (**scream inside**) The only tip to do so is DON'T LOOK DOWN. Don't forget to take off your shoes before walking on it.
There will be staffs helping you to take photos at each attraction. If you are satisfied with the photos, you can purchase the ones in hard copy version from them. The soft copies of all other photos will be given for free after purchasing at least one photo from the counter.
2. Rainbow Skywalk
From Observatory Deck, we took another lift to Rainbow Skywalk (Level 68). On the rooftop, Coco Cabana Bar & Bistro is the place for you to enjoy the food and great view at the same time.
Outside the restaurant, there is a "Luckiest Chair in the World" for visitors to take photos with.
Well, I prefer to take photo with the long couch haha :D
Yea that's the feeling of being on the top of the world! (**handclaps**)
3. Jurassic Research Center
Look here, dinosaur lovers! Jurassic Research Center is a place to experience the life size dinosaurs in their habitat. It is both interesting and educational for kids who like these creatures. Perfect spot for families!
4. 7D Discovery Motion Theater
7D Discovery Motion Theater uses the technology in virtual reality to create new dimensions. It sounds quite exciting, right? I was looking forward to trying this out when we were in the theme park. It didn't really meet my expectation but overall, we had fun.
5. Tech Dome Penang (Science Center)
This was my second visit to Tech Dome Penang. I love this science center ever since my first visit when it was newly opened. It is both interactive and informative science and technology exhibits. There are mini games for kids and adults.
Of course, not to forget the highlight of the science center-Free Fall! (**deng deng deng**) My boyfriend decided to give it a try at last. You won't know how terrifying it is until you try it out yourself. The most difficult part, after all, is to take your hands off the bar.
For your information, if you are keen to try Free Fall, G-Force and Rock Climbing out, you need to purchase an additional RM5 for each activity.
6. Magic Mirror Maze
We had fun by trying to get out of the maze. It can be confusing. Just try not to knock yourself on the mirrors as it could be painful. (Thank God I didn't!)
7. Ocean Explorer
Ocean Explorer is a great place for all ages especially families with kids. We had the chance to experience and learn about the marine life in a virtual submarine. I believe kids will love it!
8. Top Boutique Aquarium
Top Boutique Aquarium was our last stop before leaving Komtar. The aquarium is quite big where one can spend up to one hour or more to discover more about the underwater world.
What makes it different is its creative interior decoration. Omg it's pretty!

We spent almost five hours in The Top Penang. If you plan to go through everything, it will definitely last you half a day. I hope you enjoy this blog post and have a new idea of where to go during the weekends. Come and experience the fun with your loved ones!
